Chuckanut Stone Kitchen Kara Briggs Featured Reader

December 10 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

Chuckanut Sandstone Writers Theater (CSWT) Open Mic is held at Village Books on the second Tuesday of the month from 6-8 PM Pacific time. Everyone is welcome to read their own original writings (poems, prose, essays, plays) for 1 to 7 minutes to an enthusiastic audience. Pre-registration to read is encouraged as spaces are limited, please email Carla Shafer at chuckanutsandstone@gmail.com to secure your spot! Walk-ins may sign in at the door to read if time allows. Our CSWT emcee is Carla Shafer, who founded Bellingham’s first continuous Open Mic in Bellingham in 1991. The Chuckanut Sandstone Writers Theater is named after the local rock which looks hard at first, but breaks open easily and like all great writing has grit.

Carla Shafer is a retired educator. She is a writer, editor, and publisher who supports writers getting to be heard and has published several anthologies of regional poets. She co-founded World Peace Poets in 2015 which has annual gatherings for writers and musicians and sponsors a Peace Poetry Postcard exchange every February. Her poems appear in the anthologies: Last Call, Noisy Waters, For Love of Orcas and Sue C. Boynton Poetry Contest. Carla has several chapbooks, including, Remembering the Path (2014).
